Have we seen the last of Tony Stark? Robert Downey Jr. recently did an interview with Variety and hinted that fans might not get an "Iron Man 4." The third installment in the franchise was released in 2013.
"There isn't one in the pipe." Downey said. "Three's no plans for a fourth 'Iron Man.'"
The actor signed with Disney and Marvel for two sequels to "Avengers" - one slated for a summer 2015 release, and the other for summer 2018 - so there's always a chance Downey Jr. could reprise the role in one of those.
Variety asked the Hollywood star if he thought Tony Stark should be recast, and at first he laughed but said, "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm the casting director for Marvel."
Robert Duvall, who Downey costars with in his upcoming movie "The Judge," thought it was a bad idea to give the role to another actor.
His costar in "The Judge", Robert Duvall, doesn't think the role should go to anyone else. Downey and Duvall play an on-screen father and son in "The Judge," which will be released on Oct. 10.
The movie is about a successful lawyer, named Hank Palmer, who returns to his hometown in Indiana for his mother's funeral. Hank discovers that his estranged father, Judge Joseph Palmer, who is the town's judge, is suspected of murder. Hank signs on as his father's lawyer.
"This movie is entertaining and had great wit and great laughs from the beginning up until the end and in so much as that it's a drama," Downey said. "I always say a drama has to be 30% comedy and a comedy has to be 30% drama - not to stick to those hard and soft rules."
"Vulnerability thrown in, humor thrown in - it's a composite of things," Duvall added.
"The Judge" also stars Vera Farmiga, Vincent D'Onofrio, Dax Shephard, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Lancaster and Billy Bob Thorton.
