Playing James Bond is prestigious, and Denzel Washington wants to do it. The Oscar-winning actor has asked fans to take part in his new Twitter campaign #DenzelIsJamesBond. During a Q&A session on Reddit, he spoke about his desire to play the role.
"The next James Bond?" he said, according to Express. co.uk. "They better hurry up! Yes I would! Who's doing James Bond now... Daniel Craig! Did they shoot another one? Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond! Send it to the studio! We start the Denzel Is Bond campaign today!"
While some may argue that he may be too old for the part, age has never been a problem for the talented actor. Even at 59, he's managed to grab roles like in "American Gangster" and his upcoming film "The Equalizer." The actor is also very proud of the fact that even now, he manages to look half his age.
"I come from a good gene pool," he said. "When I was young-young, it took a long time for me to be able to get into clubs, and my eldest daughter, she's mid-20s now, she looks 12 or 13, so I think it's just genetics. And exercise, and eating right, but you know... Father Time is undefeated."
If the actor manages to bag the role of the next 007 agent, he will be the oldest actor to have played the part. He will also join esteemed alumni including Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore.
The actor recently took to Reddit to share his list of all-time favorite lyricists after he was asked if he liked Eminem.
"Eminem, yes," Washington replied. "And I like Nas, and Jay-Z. Eminem and NAS are real wordsmiths. So yes, I'm DEFINITELY an Eminem fan. Where's he been? Where you been Eminem?"
