BlackBerry is looking to win lost fans by working on a new model that blends its new technology with a classic design. Several unofficial images of the rumored BlackBerry Q20, codenamed Classic, were leaked on China's largest social networking site, Weibo.
Based on the leaked images put together by BGR, the Q10-successor features a realistic look in line with the company's classic smartphones, hence the codename. The smartphone in the pictures shows a physical keyboard and a trackpad. The company's CEO John Chen expressed his love for keyboards during the CES 2014 show in January and revealed plans to expand the smartphone line with the old-school style. The upcoming Q20 smartphone is expected to be better in terms of both hardware and inside specs. The design is much squarer and larger than its preceding model, the pictures show.
The leakster also showed pictures of the unannounced handset placed next to the company's pricey Porsche smartphone and Q10, where it appears to be bigger. In addition to the images, few tips on the device's specs also came to light. The Q20 is expected to pack a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM, upgraded camera with OIS and the unreleased 10.3 OS version. The handset is slated for a November launch, according to the report. .
Before official details on the Q20 smartphone are released, BlackBerry will launch its 4.5-inch square-shaped Passport device on Sept. 24. The phablet packs high-end features like a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, 2MP sensor on the front, 1440x1440 pixel resolution and a large 3,450mAh battery.
BlackBerry hasn't confirmed the launch directly but sent out cryptic invites titled "See the bigger picture," for the Sept. 24 event, BGR reported.
