Grief, sex, lost lovers, witchcraft and new temptations - all rolled up into one short promo for season six of "The Vampire Diaries."
In the newest promo video titled "Move On," viewers get a deeper look into how the characters are coping with the death of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
Spoiler: Elena isn't doing so well.
Last season, the characters' fates were left undetermined when they both failed to pass through the portal of the living. Season six will pick up six months after Bonnie and Damon have died, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Elena (Nina Dobrev) is suffering from the loss of her lover and is seen moping around, clinging onto pictures and living off of old memories with Damon.
"I want to thank you for giving me everything I ever wanted: the love that consumed me, adventure, passion. There's nothing more that I could have asked for - except for it to last forever," Elena is heard saying in a montage of moments she shared with Damon.
She loses control and starts breaking things and attacking people. She later begs for help to find a way to bring her boyfriend and best friend back
While one Salvatore brother is considered dead, the other is nowhere to be found by his friends. Stefan (Paul Wesley) has distanced himself from Mystic Falls - without saying good-bye - and has found a new life, along with a new love interest, who isn't Caroline (Candice Accola).
Fans will be happy to see a little glimpse of Alaric (Matt Davis) in the promo, but there's no word if the actor is actually back on the show. Despite Mystic Falls claiming to be supernatural-free, a couple is seen being tormented in the woods.
"We're trying to take the show away from the massive genre extravaganza, where each season we try to top each other with the bigger, bad, more exciting mythologies and boil it back down to the beginning," Executive producer Julie Plec confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter back in May.
"The Vampire Diaries" season six premieres Thursday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. on the CW.
