A Massachusetts man with horns in his head who is on trial for killing three people might have gone to a local Home Depot to look for possible murder weapons.
Caius Veiovis, who has horn implants in a "V" shape and a "666" tattoo, is on trial in Hampden County for murdering and dismembering three men with saw-like tools in 2011, The Berkshire Eagle reported.
An employee at the Pittsfield Home Depot, William Gregory, testified on Tuesday that Veiovis, 34, asked him where the saws were located when he visited the store with another man on Aug. 24, 2011.
Gregory described how he was haunted by the defendant's bizarre appearance.
"It was nothing I'd seen before," Gregory said according to the newspaper.
Veiovis and his companion, Eric Fox, stopped by where the wrenches were located before wandering over to a section with hammers, handsaws and hatches. At one point Fox picked up a hatchet and made a chopping motion before asking Gregory if they had more saws, the employee said.
A lawyer for Veiovis, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, said his client was at the store buying a tool for his new Jeep. Fox is not facing charges in the case.
Gregory admitted the men did nothing illegal at the Home Depot and that it's not unusual for customers to continue browsing after purchasing an item.
A week after the Home Depot trip, the victims - David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell - were killed and their bodies hacked with machete-like tools, prosecutors said, according to the newspaper.
The defendant is the last of three men charged with kidnapping and murdering the victims. The others have already been convicted and Veiovis' trial is ongoing.
