BYU (2-0) followed up their season-opening win against Connecticut with an impressive 41-7 blowout of Texas. BYU junior quarterback Taysom Hill completed 18 of 28 passes for 181 yards and interception against the Longhorns, but he ran for 99 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Through two games, Hill has passed for 389 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 196 yards and five touchdowns, putting his name into early consideration for the Heisman Trophy.

"Ultimately, Taysom Hill is a phenomenal player," coach Bronco Mendenhall said after the win against Texas, via ESPN. "He made a lot of great decisions, but there are just some sheer athleticism things that aren't coachable. He is just more poised than he was a year ago. He's better at leadership and the game is slowing down for him. His throwing the ball is more accurate."

Houston (1-1), meanwhile, is coming off a 47-0 rout of Grambling State. Quarterback John O'Kern, who threw four interceptions in their season-opening loss against Texas-San Antonio, finished the Cougars' dismantling of Grambling State with 200 passing yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.

"We saw improvement from John from Week 1 to Week 2," said Houston coach Tony Levine. "... And I would like to say in a postgame press conference Thursday that John O'Kern again improved rom Game 2 to Game 3."
