Andrew Garfield's girlfriend Emma Stone may not have been one of the celebrities that had fallen victim to last month's hacking and leaking of racy and nude pictures online, but that isn't keeping the "Spider-Man" star from speaking out against the incident.
The 31-year-old actor is appalled by the recent celebrity nude photo-hacking scandal that leaked private images of Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Victoria Justice, he declared in an interview with The Daily Beast.
"It's disgusting. 'I have a right to your naked body or images that you've sent to your husband, or lover.' It's disgusting. It's this violent, abusive violation of womanhood - of divine womanhood. It's violent, and it's misogynistic, and it's revolting, and it's another example of what this distance has enabled us to do - it's enabled us to be disassociated from each other," the actor said.
"There's enough awful s--t coming from it that hopefully we'll get to the point of, 'OK, wait a second.' What's scary is that we haven't reached that point yet, and there hasn't been a referendum put on it. The internet is the new Wild West. There's a guy now taking these pictures and putting them up in an art gallery. What f---ing right does he have to do that? It's absolutely revolting."
Artist XVALA originally planned to showcase some of the life-size leaked photos at the Cory Allen Contemporary Art (CACA) Exhibit in St. Petersburg, Florida, however, he decided against it after receiving several "persuasive" online petitions asking him to dismiss the idea.
The FBI stated that they are "aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter," according to ABC News.
Last week, Glamour Magazine published a think piece titled, "Why Aren't More Men in Hollywood Standing Up Against the Nude Photo Leak?" which claimed that male stars have not come to the defense of their Hollywood female co-stars.
