Actress Nicole Kidman's father died unexpectedly Friday morning (Sept. 12) after suffering a fall at a prominent social club in Singapore. According to reports, Dr. Anthony Kidman was visiting Nicole's younger sister Antonia, her husband, and their six children.
The Straits Times reports that Anthony had been staying at the Tanglin Club, a private hotel in Singapore, and had just finished his morning workout when he collapsed at the club's Wheelhouse restaurant. The Singapore Civil Defense Force spokesperson confirmed that a 911 call was made from the restaurant about 8:10 a.m. and by the time paramedics arrived people in the restaurant were already performing CPR on Anthony. He was pronounced dead at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore, The Straits Times reports.
"Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father. She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time. Thank you," her rep told US Weekly.
Not much is known about the cause of death but The Straits Times claims Anthony may have suffered a heart attack. Police told Reuters that an investigation was launched into his "unnatural death." According to US, Nicole and her husband Keith Urban are now making immediate plans to fly to Australia to be with the actress' family and for her father's funeral.
"Nicole is beside herself," the source told US. "Keith vowed to be with her as long as he needs to during this horrible time and he is supporting his wife to the fullest. She is beyond devastated and in total shock."
Anthony leaves behind his wife, Janelle, two daughters Nicole and Antonia and 10 grandkids - Nicole's children Bella Cruise, Connor Cruise, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, and Antonia's kids Lucia, Sybella, Hamish, Nicholas, Alexander, and James.
