A trailer has been released for "Serena," a new film that again pairs Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
The film is based on a novel of the same name by Ron Rash. Susanne Bier directed and Christopher Kyle wrote the script. The storyline revolves around newlyweds George and Serena Pemberton who travel from Boston to the mountains of North Carolina where they begin to build a timber empire in 1929. Their relationship takes a turn for the worse when Serena learns that she cannot bear children and her husband has an illegitimate son with another woman.
The trailer reveals that Serena commits murder because of her anger and jealousy over her husband's illegitimate son. A new poster for the film has also been released.
This is not the first time the two stars have been paired opposite each other. They first proved their on-screen chemistry in "Silver Linings Playbook," which landed Lawrence the Best Actress at the 2013 Oscars.
They were later paired together in David O. Russell's "American Hustle," which was a hit at the big awards ceremonies this year, except at the Oscars where it got 10 nominations but no wins.
Their comfort levels with each other made shooting for "Serena" all the more easy.
"There were no reshoots or anything like that," an insider said, according to L.A. Times. "It was just a real precision edit because the story is about a woman's descent into madness. And Susanne is a total perfectionist."
While "Serena" is set to premiere at the London Film Festival in October and will be released in U.K. theaters on Oct. 24, the film does not have a U.S. release date yet. However, it is rumored that the film may be released in the United States sometime next year.
