The fashion world dominated social media as well as the runways last week, with over 1.2 million tweets about New York Fashion Week. That's a major spike from last February, when Fashion Week saw 574,000 tweets, a spokesman told The New York Times.
But which designers were people tweeting about, or as the late Joan Rivers might have said, "Who are you tweeting?"
As The New York Times noted, Twitter compiled the data from Fashion Week's start on Sept. 4 to its end on Sept. 11 to see who was the most tweeted-about designer.
Fashion darling Michael Kors, whose coveted bags are owned by practically every woman in the city, came in as the most talked-about designer on Twitter, with 113,000 tweets in his name.
Kors seems to have took the competition by storm, because the second most-tweeted designer, Ralph Lauren, received 69,000 tweets. The designer may have received a boost by having two shows - a dazzling holographic fashion show in Central Park for the Polo for Women collection on Monday and the main show for the spring 2015 collection on Thursday, the newspaper reported.
In third place was Alexander Wang, a 30-year-old designer with his own label and who is also the creative director of the French fashion house Balenciaga. His name was tweeted 63,558 times.
