Singer and actress Pia Zadora was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital on Thursday, Sept. 11 with serious head injuries after a golf cart accident near her home in Summerlin. Her husband, Mike Jeffries, told the Las Vegas Sun that their 17-year-old son was making a left turn onto a street near their home when Zadora fell out of the motorized cart.
She was taken to University Medical Center where she is recovering in intensive care. According to the Las Vegas Sun, Zadora's head injury led to bleeding on her brain and she also fractured her ankle. Jeffries told the newspaper that his wife has been in and out of consciousness but is doing better.
"Thank you every one of you that sent good thoughts and wishes to Pia Zadora and her family today. Michael is not leaving her side. She will be back soon and ready to entertain!" a message posted to her Facebook account read.
The 60-year-old "Rock it Out" singer was supposed to perform with a band at Piero's Italian Restaurant in Las Vegas, but the shows have been cancelled. Zadora first rose to fame as a member of the original Broadway cast for "Fiddler on the Roof." She went on to become a popular singer and actress starring in movies such as "Fake-Out" (1982), "The Lonely Lady" (1983), and "Hairspray" (1988).
