Katniss Everdeen is ready to take on the Capitol in the official trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.”
The teaser begins with Katniss talking to President Snow in what looks like a possible control room from District 13. Katniss tells Snow she never wanted to start a rebellion as all she really cared about was protecting her sister Primrose from the Hunger Games.
Snow responds, “It’s the things we love most that destroy us.”
The video goes on to show scenes of Katniss and Gale Hawthorne preparing for battle in District 13. Katniss is in a cafeteria when a video of Peeta Mellark appears on the television screens. The heroine realizes Peeta is alive and wants to rescue him.
However, Haymitch explains to Katniss that Peeta is now a weapon of the Capitol as she is a weapon of District 13. Check out the full trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” in the video below.
For those unfamiliar with the “Mockingjay” novel, actress Julianne Moore described District 13 during a behind the scenes video released back in May. Moore plays President Alma Coin in the final two “Hunger Games” films.
"District 13 really looks like a bomb shelter and that's what it is,” Moore said. “It's all been built hundreds of feet underground, so it can withstand any kind of attack and detection.
“Basically, the Capitol believes they've destroyed this district that everyone is dead. But these people have managed to...take out what little they had and bring it down there and not exactly prosper. They barely have enough to eat.”
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Natalie Dormer and more.
The third installment of the “Hunger Games” film franchise will be released to theaters on Nov. 21.
