LG Electronics announced Monday that it will soon release a new version of its G3 smartphone around the world.
The pen-enabled variant, called the LG G3 Stylus, will be available in Brazil next week and comes with a stylus that the user can slide right into the side of the phone, according to CNET. The device will also be released in growing markets in Latin America, Central America, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The South Korean consumer electronics giant said the stylus is made of a proprietary Rubberdium material that makes the device feel comfortable in both hands. The styles work with LG's QuickMemo+ app, which lets users write and sketch different things, as well as with other third-party handwriting and drawing apps.
One of the features of the nG3 Stylus is called Knock Code, which lets users tap the screen to create a "knock" pattern for locking and unlocking their phones, NDTV Gadgets reported. The phone also comes with a dual window feature that lets users complete different tasks on two separate windows.
Other features of the new smartphone include a 5.5-inch 540x960-pixel display, 8GB inbuilt storage, support for expandable storage, and 1GB of RAM. The device is also powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.
The 3G Stylus also comes with 3G network compatibility, a MicroSD slot, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a removable 3,000mAh battery, CNET reported.
"As a device that carries over the soul of the LG G3, we believe the G3 Stylus is perfect for consumers looking for a powerful and reasonably priced smartphone," said Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. "By offering not just a stylus experience but also the same premium user experience and design heritage of the G3, we're confident the G3 Stylus will set a new baseline for large smartphones in 3G markets."
LG said the G3 Stylus will be available to fans in three different colors: black, gold, and white, NDTV Gadgets reported. While the price of the phone has not been announced, the company said it will reveal the price during the device's local launches.
