Mother Charged With 1991 Killing 5-Year-Old Son Set To Appear In Court

A Florida woman arrested and charged last month for the death of her 5-year-old son in 1991 is scheduled to appear in a New Jersey courtroom Tuesday.

Michelle Lodzinski, 46, was charged with the murder of her son Timothy Wiltsey who went missing at a carnival in New Jersey in 1991. She was arrested in August and is being held in custody on $2 million bail.

She will appear at a New Brunswick courtroom Tuesday afternoon. The Associated Press reports that her attorney said she "adamantly denies" the charges. The remains of her son were found at Raritan Center, an industrial site in Edison, N.J., 11 months after he disappeared.

The neighbors said that Lodzinski was aloof after her son's remains were found and did not really look distressed. According to the officials, Lodzinski said her son went missing at the 1991 carnival. However, she kept changing her story.

A grand jury that charged Lodzinski said , "She did purposely or knowingly kill Timothy Wiltsey, or did purposely or knowingly inflict serious bodily injury upon Timothy Wiltsey, resulting in his death."

Lodzinksi previously has had run-ins with the law. She earlier pled guilty to lying that she was kidnapped by the FBI in a federal court and stealing a computer from a boss in state court in the 1990s, reports nj.com.

Investigators said she was the top suspect list in her son's death case. However, she has been maintaining her innocence for years.

"I don't forget the past. Never," Lodzinski told the Star- Ledger in 2001. "I think about it all the time. I think about him all the time."
