ISIS: Sympathetic Group Suggests Attacking New York City, Las Vegas

Instructions for making bombs and potential targets for "lone wolves in America" to attack were recently posted to an online message board sympathetic to the Islamic State militant group, also known as ISIS or ISIL, Vocativ reported on Tuesday.

The post - titled, "To the lone wolves in America: How to make a bomb in your kitchen, to create scenes of horror in tourist spots and other targets" - suggests staging attacks in popular tourist destinations, such as New York's Times Square and the Las Vegas Strip, as well as train and subway stations throughout the United States.

The instructions appear to be similar to those previously published by Inspire, the al-Qaida magazine, and reportedly used by the Tsarnaev brothers to build pressure cooker bombs used in their attack on the 2013 Boston Marathon, according to Yahoo News.

The post in an ISIS message board, originally written three weeks ago and resurfaced in the last 24 hours with new urgency, includes a comprehensive guide to building pipe bombs using easily obtained materials like match heads, sugar and Christmas lights.

At a boat naming ceremony for fallen cops in Brooklyn on Tuesday, NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton acknowledged that the online instruction manual aimed at provoking an American attack was a major turn for the new terror organization.

"This is the first time ISIS has used this medium to inspire a 'lone wolf' type attack," Commissioner Bratton told Vocativ, speaking specifically about ISIS forums encouraging attacks inside U.S. Cities, including "The Crossroads of the World" Times Square.

Commissioner Bratton said the threat of ISIS inspiring attacks on U.S. Soil is being considered as plausible.

"This is a new world, if you will, the evolving world of terrorism - and we are staying ahead of it," he said.
