Garth Brooks is a man of his word.
When he stopped performing and touring in 2001, the mega-selling superstar promised to return to the stage only after all three of his daughters were raised. No doubt he would have kept his word anyway, but when his youngest, Allie, turned 18 she took it upon herself to remind her father of his promise.
Now Allie is as hard-working on stage as her famous dad.
When Brooks bounded on stage in Chicago over the weekend, his backing band, which he christened the "Wall of Sound," sported one more familiar face: Allie.
Allie, still 18, was a big part of Brooks' Sept. 14 performance at the Allstate Arena. When he introduced his daughter, who wore a red plaid shirt and skinny jeans with her dark hair pulled into a ponytail, he didn't acknowledge to the audience that she was part of the family. Even so, the oh-so-proud father couldn't conceal his feelings for his daughter.
"We've been working together for, I don't know, the last 18 years now or so," he coyly told the crowd. "This little girl's very talented. She does background vocals, acoustic guitar, and singer-songwriter. From Owasso, Oklahoma, give it up for Miss Allie Colleen!"
Allie didn't just join her dad on a couple songs. No way. Unless he was performing a song alone - just him and his guitar - Allie was singing for the entire set which lasted more than two hours.
At one point during the show, Brooks put his arm around her during one verse of his iconic hit "Friends in Low Places."
Allie is the youngest of Brooks' three daughters with ex-wife Sandy. Since Allie was the one who reminded Brooks that it was time to return to the stage, it's only fitting that she gets to share that stage with him.
