Sherri Shepherd is coming clean about her nasty divorce drama with ex-husband Sally Lamar.
In an interview with Wendy Williams on "The Wendy Williams Show" Wednesday, the 47-year-old former host of ABC's "The View" called the drama surrounding her custody battle with Sally over their surrogate-born child "painful". The child, whose name is reportedly Lamar Sally Jr., was born on Aug. 5, in Pennsylvania.
"We can't say anything about that. I have a lot of lawyers and I'm in court right now and it's very public and it's very painful," Shepherd told the audience. "You know for me, I'm not Tori and Dean, I don't get paid to talk about my life, so when people tweet me I always say go to Wendy, she knows what's going on. You can ask Wendy about my life."
In May, Sally filed for divorce from the TV personality, citing irreconcilable differences as his reason for the split. Sally previously told People Magazine that he and Shepherd were negotiating financial responsibility for the newborn. He is reportedly petitioning for the court to have Shepherd's name placed on the child's birth certificate.
Shepherd, who was not present for the birth of the child, reportedly does not want custody of the child or any parental rights and responsibilities. The child was produced using only Sally's sperm.
According to FOX News, "Sherri doesn't want anything to do with the child and refuses to pay any child support. She is not budging and is completely detached. She feels very just in her actions and claims the child is not hers."
"I think it's the worst thing in the world for L.J. to look at his birth certificate at 16 and see it says, 'Mother unknown,'" Sally explained to People.
The estranged couple is set to reappear in court on Oct. 2 in Pennsylvania for a pretrial hearing.
