As the crowds are moving into Apple Stores across the world today to purchase the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus consumers are realizing that the phones are so big they barely fit in their pockets.
The big screens are one of the many features that draw consumers to the new smartphones, however not as much attention was focused on the practicality of the phone fitting in your hand or pockets.
The iPhone 6 is 4.7-inches-tall and the iPhone 6 Plus stands at 5.5 inches.
"I won't be carrying that giant device in my pocket," Mashable's Lance Olanoff writes in a review of the devices.
Wardrobe and technology seem like two separate products, but they are very much in the same discussion when it comes to the purchase of the device. Luckily some people in the clothing design world are taking the popularity of the bigger phones into consideration when looking at their clothing lines, especially for women who wear tight pants with small pockets.
Recode writer Lauren Goode says the practicality of the iPhone 6's size doesn't match up to the size of pockets.
"It didn't fit well in pockets. And it was too big to hold in my hand, or even wear on my arm, during fitness activities. This is key for me," she writes.
Whitney Neary, a merchandiser at denim brand Lee, which largely sells to women, tells Huffington Post they plan to accommodate the larger devices:
"It's something that we're always looking at. I can see as technology progresses we will also have to evolve our aesthetic to make it more functional for her."
She even suggests the practicality of big pockets may bring cargo pants back into style. Lee is releasing seasonal wear soon that will feature six-by-six-inch cargo-like pockets. Neary thinks it will be a hit because women value pocket utility in their pants.
However, if someone likes the new iPhone models, the size of the device may not be a total deal-breaker.
"The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will still appeal to women, but it may just depend on their lifestyle and what kind of wardrobe they own," writer Allyson Kazmucha writes in a review on iMore.
