“Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will encourage players to customize their character. In the latest “Assassin’s Creed” DevBlog post, Lead Game Designer Benjamin Plich explained players can decide which tactics they want to focus and customize.
Plich’s favorite tactic to use during co-op missions is stealth. However, when characters specialize in one skill, other skills may not be as strong.
“Personally, I like to specialize in the Stealth pillar,” Plich explained to the DevBlog. “However, that might mean my character is not as strong in Navigation. So it helps if one of my friends has spent their Sync Points in levelling up a character adept in Navigation and free running.
“This is extremely useful because of the 360 approach that we have adopted within the level design for Unity. It means that every mission has a variety of opportunities for players; at least one Navigation opportunity, one Stealth opportunity and one Combat opportunity.”
Customizing your character’s equipment and clothing can also improve skills. Different items, like Hoods, Coats, Lower Body, Forearms and Belts, come with their own unique benefits. There are reportedly 200 ways to customize your Assassin.
“We definitely thought it was important to give players the ability to select the color of their equipment,” Plich said. “In fact, when you select colors, you are doing so for the overall appearance. That way we can ensure that your custom Assassin will also match and look badass.”
Plich added, “There are a whole range of weapons to choose from in the game, like swords, two handed swords, long weapons and rifles…Each has different animations and types of attack. Oh! And bombs return too.”
