Jerrod Niemann and Fiancée Want Donations, Not Traditional Wedding Gifts

Country star Jerrod Niemann and fiancée Morgan Petek will tie the knot next month-but the happy couple is letting everyone know they don't want traditional wedding gifts, according to Taste of Country.

The country singer and his wife-to-be will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to say, "I do" Oct. 12, but their wedding gift registry is not about gifts, it's about giving back.

Together since 2005, Niemann and Petek have made philanthropy a cornerstone of their relationship, previously teaming up with ACM Lifting Lives, Rising Star Outreach, PS22, Refugee and Immigrant Students Empowered and Songs for Sound, with a focus on helping children.

"We can't think of a better way to honor our upcoming nuptials than to combine the two things that we love the most: music and helping others," the couple told People magazine "In lieu of a traditional wedding registry, we are asking for donations to be made to benefit Free the Music USA."

Niemann's nonprofit organization strives to give instruments to children who may not be able to afford them otherwise. On its official page, the group states that all children deserve "the opportunity to explore music within themselves," which is why the singer created FTMUSA.

Clearly, Petek's love for helping others is one of the things that made Niemann fall in love with her. "It's so funny, the little things we can all get upset about," he says. "That's why it's just really cool to see somebody that really thinks of others and wants to make people happy."

Niemann exploded onto the scene in 2010 with his chart-topping debut album, "Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury." The album included the No. 1 smash single, "Lover, Lover," and the Top 5 single, "What Do You Want." His latest hit single is "Buzz Back Girl." He kicks off his Get Your Buzz Back Tour on Oct. 24-less than two weeks after his wedding.

Since the soon-to-be husband and wife have a track record of helping children, where does having their own children fit into their plans? Neiman was quick with an answer.

"Starting a family and making her my wife - that's all part of the deal!"
