It's been rumored for some time, however it has now been confirmed by the man himself...Colin Farrell is indeed joining the cast of HBO's "True Detective."
In a recent interview with the Sunday World, Farrell revealed that he is to join the cast of the immensely successful series.
"I'm doing the second series...I'm so excited," Farrell said.
This isn't the first time Farrell has appeared on a TV show. The Ireland native had his first leading role on BBC's "Ballykissangel," before starring in Joel Schumacher's military drama "Tigerland" in 2000.
Farrell admits that there's "a level of anxiety" in approaching TV again.
"It's been shown time and time again how HBO have raised the bar," Farrell explained.
As for the plot of Season 2, the details are still quite vague. Farrell says that the show will be filming in Los Angeles, and that they are still looking to round out the rest of the cast. Showrunner Nic Pizzolatto has stated in the past that the new series will be set in California.
The stars of the first series, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, will definitely not be joining this season's cast, and will instead remain as executive producers.
The second season of "True Detective" will air on HBO sometime in 2015.
