Expensive liquors are over 70 percent more likely to be purchased by men than women, according to a recent survey.
Civic Science polled 16,857 anonymous respondents over 18 years old from Jan. 1, 2014 through Sept. 10, 2014 about their spending habits. The survey found that 72 percent of Americans say they take opportunities to splurge, although the things they splurge on seem to vary a lot between genders.
The survey found that 72 percent of men are likely to pull their credit card out to make a pricey liquor purchase.
Other qualities of expensive liquor buyers are between ages 25-29 and 35-44, make an annual income of over $100,000, characterize themselves as spendthrifts (freely part with their money), exercise several times a month and do not use Facebook.
It appears that men have usually spent more money on alcohol than women throughout history.
In 2011, Investopedia reported that men spend twice as many dollars on alcohol than women.
