Kerry Washington and Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo have unveiled a new fashion line for the retailer inspired by Shonda Rhimes' smash TV series. The collection, set to debut in stores and online on Sept. 22, is the first design pairing between a national clothing chain and a top-rated network TV show, its costume designer and star, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The 78 pieces range in price from $49 to $250 and feature pencil skirts, fashionable coats, work pants and print blouses. The Limited described the clothing line, which will hit stores later this month, as "sophisticated professional" with tailored leg trousers, neutral palette and chic feminine blouses, according to The Daily Mail.
"Our collection evokes the striking and aspirational style that has become synonymous with the Scandal brand and its heroine, Olivia Pope," The Limited's design head Elliot Staples said. "Bringing a quintessential neutral palette together with soft feminine color, the collection is outfit-driven while remaining easy to mix and match - creating effortlessly modern and powerful looks."
Together, Paolo and Washington curated window displays for Saks Fifth Avenue last year by dressing its mannequins like Scandal characters. The displays featured clothing by top designers such as Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Carolina Herrera.
"The whole team took great care in creating a collection that reflects Olivia Pope's unique style. We believe the collection tells a story of confidence and professional sophistication as well as maintains a strong feminine point of view," Paolo told Hollywood Reporter.
Scandal will return for its fourth season this fall.
