Hilary Duff is making a comeback! The 26-year-old singer and actress took a five-year hiatus from the spotlight to focus on her family, but the former child star is ready to reignite her music career. Duff was at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend and dished on her upcoming album, due out later this year.
Duff told Fox411 that she was ready to give her fans some new music and said this album reflects her southern roots as a gal from Texas.
"The new record is definitely pop, I would want someone to think 'Oh, that's Hilary,'" she told Fox411. "It has a little bit of folk threaded through it which is cool for me because I'm a Texas girl."
The former Disney star said the record was very personal to her because it touches "on some of the things that have happened in my life in the past few years," she said.
Duff got married to hockey player Mike Cromie in 2010, but the two separated in January of this year. Duff and Comrie are parents to a son, Luca, 2.
"A lot of it is upbeat and happy and a lot of it is a little more serious," Duff said. "I hope people enjoy it and I hope to make my fans really proud."
This will be Duff's first album since 2007's "Dignity" and will include the singles "Chasing the Sun" and "All About You."
"I've worked very hard and the album is a great representation of the experiences I've had in my life and where I want to go from here," she told E! News. "I'm really proud of the album I've made."
Besides chatting about music, Duff also spoke to Huffington Post about the possibility of a "Lizzie McGuire" reunion. She told the site that she would be up for a cast reunion with Lalaine Vergara-Paras (Miranda) and Adam Lamberg (Gordo).
"I love it! I would be totally open to it," she told the Huffington Post. "My schedule is a little busy right now. But um... why not?"
"I mean, so many people loved [Lizzie]. I loved her. Honestly, working on that show, I got so strong with my physical comedy and all the things that they would throw at me," she added. "Maybe a 'Lizzie: Where Are You Now?' like 10 years later."
