An Illinois town is celebrating its 200th birthday with a 200-foot-long grilled bratwurst, complete with a 200-foot bun.
Schubert's Packing Co. used 120 pounds of meat to create the bratwurst for Belleville's birthday celebration.
It was a big group effort for city volunteers to grill the meat on a 200-foot metal grilling trough. Athletes from Lindenwood University and Southwestern Illinois College helped roll the meat on the trough and bring the giant bun over to the site, The Associated Press reported.
The birthday bash raised $1,600 for local food pantries.
Although the brat likely broke a record, the event organizers decided not to use the raised money to pay the World Record Academy to have the feat recorded.
Before this celebration, the world's largest brat was cooked in Wisconsin on Labor Day in 2013 measuring 152-feet, nine-inches, according to NBC.
