HTC's newest flagship phone, the HTC One smartphone, will now be available across the board as long-time holdout Verizon announced Monday that it would indeed carry the phone beginning sometime this summer.
The news was not announced in the traditional way of a press release. Instead, the company made the announcement via its official Twitter page with a tweet that read "It's coming - the HTC One will be available on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network later this summer."
Despite the fact that there is no clear date for when Verizon Wireless customers will be able to purchase the HTC One, fans of the smartphone are excited for the summer.
The phone made its way through T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T in the past few months. Verizon holding out for so long made some speculate as to whether or not the company would come out with a brand-specific device. However, that does not seem to be the case.
The all-metallic HTC One, powered by Google and Android sports a 4.7-inch 1080p handset display. It runs on the Android Jelly Bean operating system with a 4-megapixel camera with LED flash.
The company announced on May 31 that it would be releasing a special edition of the HTC One that Google will optimize the Android operating system for.
The system will be similar to the one seen in the widely successful Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini. The Galaxy has reportedly sold 10 million units in the past month making both it and the HTC One top competitors along with the iPhone in the growing smartphone market. With the HTC One now available across all of the major providers, only time will tell its impact on the smartphone market. The HTC One Google edition is expected to be available for $599. However, Verizon has not mentioned anything about prices just yet.
