The phablet market is about to host a heated battle between Apple's recently released iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 4.
Apple made its debut in the market with its new iPhone, while Samsung's new device will be its fourth phablet to date, according to The Epoch Times. The difference in experience in the market may give Samsung an edge.
Both phones feature different technology, size and resolutions in their screens, as the iPhone 6 comes with a 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD Retina screen, featuring a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080p and 401ppi, while the Galaxy Note 4 includes a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, featuring a resolution of 1,440x2,560p and 515ppi.
The dimension difference between the devices measures the iPhone 6 Plus as the smaller and slimmer of the two at 6.2 x 3.1 x 0.27 inches, while the Galaxy Note 4 measures 6 x 3.1 0.33 inches. The Note 4 is also just a bit heavier than the iPhone 6 Plus, weighing 176g while the new iPhone weighs 172g, Tech Times reported.
The iPhone 6 Plus also provides more storage options than the Galaxy Note 4, offering 16GB, 64GB and 128GB of on-board storage while Samsung's phablet offers only 32GB of storage. However, the Note 4 lets owners use a microSD card to expand memory storage to 128GB, which makes the device capable of storing 160GB of memory. Samsung also has more RAM than the iPhone with 3GB, while the Apple's phablet comes with 2GB.
The Galaxy Note 4's 3.7 mega-pixel front camera records 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps), and the iPhone 6 Plus's 1.2 mega-pixel front camera records 720p at 30fps, The Epoch Times reported. The Note 4's 16 mega-pixel rear camera can shoot videos at 2160p at 30fps, and slow motion capture is available at 1080p at 60fps. The iPhone's 8 mega-pixel rear camera can record videos at 1080p at 60fps, and slow motion capture is featured at 720p at 240fps. Optical image stabilization is included in both devices.
Both phablets come with large batteries, with the iPhone 6 Plus featuring 2,915 mAh and the Galaxy Note 4 featuring 3,220 mAh. However, the iPhone's unibody design prevents users from being able to replace the battery. The Note 4, on the other hand, has a cover and battery that can be removed. Samsung also outshines Apple in the battery area with its Ultra Power Saving mode feature, which comes in handy when the battery is low on power.
The two devices run on different platforms, with the iPhone 6 Plus running on iOS 8 and the Galaxy Note 4 including Android 4.4.4 KitKat, The Epoch Times reported.
Samsung also has an edge over Apple in additional features. While both devices include an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a barometer, a compass, NFC capabilities, and fingerprint sensor, the Galaxy Note 4 also comes with the S Pen stylus, a heart rate sensor and a UV sensor.
