Switzerland: Artist Angela Hasler's Flesh Block Sits On Mountain

An artist from Switzerland is protesting luxury with giant blocks of faux flesh on top of a mountain.

Artist Angela Hasler placed two different flesh block sculptures called "Perishable Goods" on top of mountains that are located in a luxurious touring area during the winter in Switzerland.

The block of flesh wrapped in gold chains is supposed to represent the "sudden change of the population as well as the atmosphere," reports Huffington Post.

The artist tells HuffPost the sculpture shows a mix of the attraction of repulsion of the area in the winter (most of her projects are based on this theme). The area is beautiful, but with the crowds of tourists the area can become repulsive.

The block of flesh reminds viewers of a hunk of gum or meat, reports HuffPost, but Hasler says it's actually made from wax (comparable to Madame Tussauds' Wax Museum).

The sculptures will remain in the Swiss mountains until July 5, 2016.
