Ford is recalling 465,000 current year models to check for fuel leaks that can be potential a fire hazard, according to CNN Money.
Models listed in the recall include: 2013 Ford Fusion, Flex, Explorer, Taurus, Interceptor Sedan and Interceptor Utility. The 2013 Lincoln MKZ, MKS and MKT were also listed according to a press release issued by Ford, according to multiple reports.
Ford told reporters in a press statement that the company won't have enough replacement parts for all the vehicles until at least September. The recall involves approximately 420,000 vehicles in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and the rest overseas.
The recall was issued because a fuel delivery module in the gas tank may leak. Multiple reports said Ford has received more than 600 consumer complaints as of March 31.
"While a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire, there have been no reports of fires [and] we are not aware of any accidents or injuries attributed to this condition," said Ford in a press statement.
Reportedly, there have yet to be injuries or accidents caused by the defect as of Monday.
Owners who smell gas or notice a leak in their Ford vehicles are urged to contact their dealer immediately for a service appointment.
Ford has dealt with another recall within last year. The mid-size Fusion sedan is one of Ford's best-selling models, but about 80,000 2013 Fusions were recalled in December 2012 . The reason for the recall was its engine may have a leak that could result in a fire.
"Another 19,000 Fusions were recalled a month earlier to fix issues with the lighting system. A small number of the Fusions are being recalled to fix steering gears that lack an internal retaining clip, which increases the risk of a crash," according to Auto World News.
In yet another recall, Ford announced approximately 500 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedans may have trouble with engine block heaters. Reportedly, the cords on the heaters could crack and expose the wiring.
