Tyler Perry is reportedly going to be a father.
Madamenoire.com reported that the "Madea's Witness Protection" actor is expecting his first child with his on-and-off girlfriend of the last five years Ethiopian model and activist Gelila Bekele.
A source close to the filmmaker claimed that actor "is thrilled and over the moon" about becoming a father. He reportedly made the exciting announcement during his 45th birthday celebration last week at his Atlanta mansion. His news was greeted by cheers from friends and family.
"Everyone clapped when they heard the news," the insider explained.
Perry shared pictures from his birthday bash on social media. The celebration included performances by Stevie Wonder, Monica, Jazmine Sullivan, Tamia, Mary Mary, LeAnn Rimes, Yolanda Adams and more.
"I had never thrown myself a birthday party, so for my 45th I wanted to do something special," the actor wrote about his party. "It was a night I'll never forget. Thanks to all of them for making this night special for me. My next party will be at 50. Gonna mark it every 5 years. A celebration in thanks to God for my life."
During an interview last year, the "Gone Girl" actor made comments about his dreams to become a father before the age of 45.
"More than anything I think that it's fatherhood," Perry said. "I know I would be a great father. I don't want to work this hard. I don't want to have all of this and not leave it to my children. I also know that as hard as I'm working, doing twenty hours per day, now is not the time. By 45 you know who the hell you are, right? You've really settled in at 45 so I think two more years".
