Jeremy Renner won’t be starring in a Hawkeye solo film anytime soon because he’s too busy bouncing around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The actor spoke with MTV News about his character being a part of “Avengers,” claiming he’s enjoying sharing the spotlight with other superheroes. However, he isn’t down with Hawkeye becoming a leading man just yet.
"I’m happy to be the ensemble," Renner told MTV News. "I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like ‘Cap 3.’"
Seems like Renner might be visiting the “Captain America” universe next. “Captain America 3” directors Anthony and Joe Russo could be planning on utilizing Renner, again.
The directors admitted to Super Hero Hype a Hawkeye was written in for Renner, but a scheduling conflict caused the scene to hit the cutting room floor.

“We had great stuff for [Hawkeye] actually in the film,” Joe told Super Hero Hype. “He had a couple of really cool scenes in the movie. It’s a big movie as it is, so it certainly helped that it’s not in there.
“I think it would increase the running time by about 10 or 15 minutes if they were in the movie, just because you want the right amount of time to actually treat those scenes properly. I think it was a scheduling issue.”
Anthony and Joe recently told Hypable the production’s goal to “surprise” their audience, which could mean they’re planning on utilizing Renner.
“Moving into Cap 3, we have the advantage of having this brand that continues to build loyalty and win fans,” Anthony told Hypable. “It gives you license to take them places. It’s a very valuable thing as far as where we can take the stories.”
“Captain America 3” is scheduled to be released to theaters on May 6, 2016.
