All hell broke loose at a New York City beauty shop on Saturday when a raccoon broke in and took the NYPD for a wild ride before it was finally hauled off in a cage.
Genesis Beauty Supply employee Cho Oh opened the Bronx shop Saturday morning to find wigs and ceiling bits scattered all over the floor. She looked up and saw the rogue animal.
"It looked like a big cat," she told the New York Post.
Oh called 911 and four NYPD officers arrived at the Wakefield shop to apprehend the furry pest. But the critter, nicknamed "Lil Rocky," wasn't going in without a fight.
A cage lined with marshmallows was used to lure Lil Rocky inside, but it outsmarted the NYPD. Armed with a tranquilizer gun, one officer fired a dart into the rascal's back. But for some reason the liquid stayed inside the dart and Lil Rocky remained free.
Another officer came to the rescue with a catch pole, but he fell and crashed into a fellow cop, according to the NY Post.
At one point the raccoon ended up inside the marshmallow-lined cage, but the door broke free and Lil Rocky ran off.
Police eventually caught the raccoon with a catch pole and got it back into the cage, which they sealed with zip ties. Reports aren't clear as to what happened to Lil Rocky. An Animal Care and Control official told the newspaper that raccoons are usually euthanized and tested for rabies.
