Garth Brooks pulled out all the stops to surprise his wife Trisha Yearwood on her birthday - including 16,000 fans singing her "Happy Birthday," a Georgia-shaped cake for the Peach State native, special gifts from the Atlanta Braves and, oh yeah, superstar Kelly Clarkson passing out pieces of birthday cake to the audience!
Yearwood turned the big 5-0 on Sept. 19 while she was out with her husband on the Garth Brooks World Tour, reports Taste of Country. They were onstage together in Atlanta, when Brooks encouraged he audience to sing her "Happy Birthday" Then out came the cake shaped like the state of Georgia. After Yearwood pointed to her hometown of Monticello on the cake, Brooks surprised her with gifts from the Atlanta Braves.
"There were a bunch of guys that wanted to bring you something tonight, but they were all busy playing their last game of the season," he told Yearwood. "They know how big of a fan you are ... so let's start with this right here." He then pulled out a wooden Louisville Slugger bat from the Atlanta Braves and presented it to his No.1 lady.
But Brooks wasn't done. Next came a signed jersey from a Braves legend, Dale Murphy. The jersey caused Yearwood to excitedly jump around on stage while Brooks read a personal note from the Murphy.
Brooks still wasn't done. He then presented Yearwood with her own official Major League Baseball jersey-with her last name printed across the back along with the number 19 (presumably for her birthdate).
As Brooks helped his wife put on for the personalized jersey in front of the crowd, he announced with a big grin, "You'll sleep in this tonight and I'll send pictures to everybody."
Once Yearwood was wearing the jersey, the crowd broke out into the Braves' famed Tomahawk Chop. Yearwood even joined in for a chant or two.
The audience got some surprises of their own during the show, since Kelly Clarkson was also there and helped to pass out cake to the concertgoers.
