Hope Solo is speaking out about her domestic violence charges and becoming the latest victim of the celebrity nude photo leaked scandal.
The 33-year-old U.S. Women's National Team soccer goalkeeper took to Facebook to slam the hackers who posted nude pictures of her online. Solo, along with Kim Kardashian, Hayden Panettiere, Vanessa Hudgens Gabrielle Union and Meagan Good became the latest victims to have their nude pictures leaked online.
"It is extremely sad and unfortunate that the rights of so many women were violated by the unauthorized release of private photographs," Solo wrote. "This act goes beyond the bounds of human decency and, as such, I stand united with all the women affected and am exploring every option to protect my privacy."
Solo also addressed the domestic violence charges she faced following her arrested in June. The two-time Olympic gold medalist was accused of attacking her 17-year-old nephew and the boy's mother - Solo's sister - during a family party at her house near Seattle.
Solo was also accused of being intoxicated during the attack. She pleaded not guilty, but was charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault - with a case scheduled for trial on Nov. 4.
In the Facebook Post, Solo defended her decision to continue playing as a goalie.
"While I understand that the public desires more information regarding the allegations against me, I continue to maintain my innocence against these charges," she wrote. "And, once all the facts come to light and the legal process is concluded, I am confident that I will be fully exonerated."
According to the Washington Post, Sunil Gulati, the U.S. Soccer Federation president, released a statement defending the athlete
"From the beginning, we considered the information available and have taken a deliberate and thoughtful approach regarding Hope Solo's status with the national team," the statement said. "Based on that information, U.S. Soccer stands by our decision to allow her to participate with the team as the legal process unfolds. If new information becomes available, we will carefully consider it."
