NFL Rumors: Eagles DeSean Jackson Fires Agent, Jay-Z Next?

Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson fired his agent and is reportedly considering signing with Jay-Z's Roc Nation sports agency.

Jackson fired longtime agent Drew Rosenhaus on Sunday and has reportedly told teammates he wants to sign with Roc Nation, USA Today reports. Rosenhaus, Jackson's second agent, helped negotiate a five-year, $51 million contract extension in 2012 for the receiver.

Jackson's departure from Rosenhaus Sports Representation had been planned for months, according to a USA Today source. The 26-year-old had stopped paying fees to Rosenhaus and hadn't been in contact with anyone from the agency. The source added that Jackson's previous agency, DeBartolo Sports, also had the same issue of trying to collect fees.

Roc Nation already has a stable of athletes, including New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and Skylar Diggins of the WNBA. The agency recently made headlines when the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) accused them of violating the "runner rule," which prohibits non-certified colleagues or friends of agents to be present during recruitment meetings. The NFLPA is investigating whether Jay-Z, who isn't certified by the association, was involved with Smith's recruitment.

Jackson has a busy season ahead of him as coach Chip Kelly installs a new offensive system. The Eagles hope to rebound from a dismal 4-12 season, where Jackson posted a career-low of 700 receiving yards.
