Derek Jeter began the first of his final five games as a New York Yankee on Wednesday afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles. As a tribute to one of the best shortstops of all time, HNGN is going to keep a close eye on Jeter as he and the Yanks close out their series against the Orioles and move on for the season finale at Fenway Park.
The Yankees fell to the Orioles 9-5 at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday and were officially eliminated from playoff contention, so Jeter's final games in Pinstripes will take place over the next four days. Hopefully he decides to play at Fenway Park this weekend and end his career with a classic rival matchup against the Boston Red Sox. It's been speculated that Jeter might call it quits after the team's final home game on Thursday, especially after Keith Olbermann decided to crucify the shortstop a couple of days ago in regards to his final season and all the attention he's getting, but Jeter has yet to make a decision on the matter. For now, we'll be tracking him as if he's playing in the Yankees' final series.
