FX is preparing "American Horror Story" fans for a spooky, creepy and terrifying fourth season. The anthology series, subtitled "Freak Show," will center around a 1950s circus act that moves to Jupiter, Fla. in the hopes of reviving its show.
The ring leader of the freak show is Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange) and her performers include several different kinds of "freaks": conjoined twins Dot and Bette (Sarah Paulson), strongman Dell Toledo (Michael Chiklis), bearded lady Ethel Darling (Kathy Bates), lobster boy Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters), three-breasted Desiree Dupree (Angela Bassett) and fortune teller/con artist Maggie (Emma Roberts).
On Thursday two more teasers surfaced, one titled "Two Faced" featuring a woman with two faces attached at the top of her head, and a second clip titled "Back to Back" with a circus performer who has another person attached on her back.
These latest teasers come after FX released the first glimpse of Twisty the Clown. Show creator Ryan Murphy recently chatted with BuzzFeed about the show's main villain and admitted that the clown "terrified" him. John Carroll Lynch has been tapped to play Twisty.
"We said in the writer's room that if we were going to do clowns, we were going to create the most terrifying clown of all time," he said. "That was our goal when we were writing him, but I'm worried about people being too afraid of our clown. It's heart-stopping what he does. I'm worried. I'm worried that people are going to have cardiac arrests... The clown's intro in the first episode is... even I was terrified of it. It's brutal. Two crew members told me they had nightmares about this clown since we started shooting and they're not even scared of clowns. I think he's pretty extraordinary because, when you see why he's a clown and why he's wearing the mask... just you wait."
