The New York Giants will visit the Washington Redskins tonight for a matchup on Thursday Night Football. The Redskins are pretty banged up, but the Giants will be missing two starters on defense. It could be a high scoring contest.
New York will be without linebackers Jonathan Beason and Devon Kennard for the second straight week, which means Jameel McClain will take over the middle linebacker position again and Spencer Paysinger will fill in on the outside. The Giants also won't have rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was speculated to make his return against the Redskins. However, that was refuted earlier this week when Beckham did not practice on Monday and then was limited on Tuesday. He's shooting to debut with the team by Week 5.
A few others are listed as questionable for New York, including cornerback Zack Bowman (quad) and offensive tackles James Brewer (back) and Charles Brown (shoulder). If they're without Bowman, the secondary could be facing some issues because Walter Thurmond was placed on IR after suffering a torn pectoral in the team's loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, leaving Trumaine McBride as the only remaining experienced cornerback. Although the Giants will be missing some significant contributors, the Redskins injury report is much more extensive.
For starters, Washington will be without linebacker Akeem Jordan (knee), tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) and obviously quarterback Robert Griffin III (ankle). Another slew of starters are listed as questionable, including wide receiver DeSean Jackson (shoulder), defensive ends Chris Baker (ankle) and Jason Hatcher (hamstring), guard Shawn Lauvao (knee), center Kory Lichtensteiger (groin) and cornerback Tracy Porter (hamstring). Some backups are questionable as well, including defensive ends Kedric Golston (groin) and Frank Kearse (ankle) along with safety Trenton Robinson (abdomen).
Running back Alfred Morris (knee), linebacker Brian Orakpo (finger), right tackle Tyler Polumbus (knee), linebacker Keenan Robinson (shoulder) and kicker Kai Forbath (groin) are all listed as probable and are expected to play tonight.
This should be an interesting matchup since the Giants found their offensive groove last week against the Texans, while the Redskins lost a heartbreaker to the Eagles after a handful of miscues late in the game. Both teams look to improve to 2-2, but only one of the division rivals will emerge as the winner.
