HTC posted a video Wednesday that teases the release of an action camera resembling that of GoPro's.
The camera is among the several products that the Taiwanese tech company is rumored to unveil at an event on Oct. 8th, according CANOE.
"Something remarkable is coming," the tagline reads in the video.
Those who watch the video will get a brief look at the camera, which is shown to be able to take shots on land as well as underwater, The Verge reported. The device is also suggested to be able to shoot videos in slow motion, as well as being easier to carry and mount.
A Reddit user was able to find clearer images of the supposed device on HTC's official teaser site, showing what appears to be a camera that looks like a tiny plastic periscope.
Whether the camera will be introduced as a standalone product or alongside another device, like Samsung's Galaxy Camera, has yet to be determined, Firstpost reported. Being released as an accessory for HTC's other devices is also a possibility.
Being rugged, lightweight, easily mountable and compact are qualities often found in GoPro cameras. These cameras are often used by those who participate in extreme sports to capture HD photos and videos.
The ability to capture videos underwater hints that the camera will be waterproof, The Verge reported. The device's small size is expected to play a role in its ability to compete with GoPro.
HTC fans will have to wait until the company's press event on Oct. 8th in New York City to see if the device is really the camera everyone is expecting it to be.
