Samsung released a new power sharing cable that can be used to charge other devices using smartphones.
Samsung, the Korean tech giant introduced a new accessory that makes it possible to transfer power from one device to another. The all-new Samsung Power Sharing Cable connects to a micro USB device and charges another plugged in smartphone, tablet or smartwatch.
Tthe power sharing cable can be used to charge other devices in emergency situations or when there is no power source and one is running low on charge. The smart cable comes with a supported app that controls how much power can be transferred to the other device. The power cable has arrows to show which way the power will be transferred, so it can be plugged in correctly as both ends have micro USB plugs.
"The Power Sharing Cable is easily portable and small enough to throw in your pocket or purse," reads the cable's description on Samsung's official site."This is also the perfect accessory for the on-the-go mobile device user who pushes their smartphones or tablets to the limit or can't always find an outlet. Share battery power from one of your devices to another, or with a friend's device."
Samsung notes that only select handsets, such as Galaxy S5, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Avant and Galaxy Note 4, will be capable of sending charge to other smartphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth speakers with micro USB ports.
Samsung's latest range of smartphones will need the Power Sharing app to monitor the transfer of power, but the lack of app will not affect the cable's ability to send power to other devices.
Samsung has already listed the Power Sharing Cable for $19.99 and the mobile app can be downloaded from Google Play or Samsung App Store.
