Dallas (2-1) responded to their season-opening loss against the San Francisco 49ers with two straight wins. Turnovers remained an issue for quarterback Tony Romo in last week's 34-31 win against the St. Louis Rams, but tailback DeMarco Murray picked up the slack by turning in a third straight game with at least 100 yards on the ground.
"We had some clutch performances on both sides of the ball," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, via ESPN. "I was pleased to see, you had redeeming plays, you had guys who had negative plays and all of a sudden, you have got guys that are making the plays that make the difference."
Dallas made news earlier in the week when cornerback Morris Claiborne, who was told Orlando Scandrick would take his place against New Orleans, walked out of practice Tuesday.
"We informed Mo yesterday that his role was gonna change, and he didn't take that news very well by his own admission," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "And he left the building and didn't participate in the meetings and our short walkthrough that we have on Tuesday."
Claiborne said he apologized to his teammates for walking out. Garrett said Claiborne would be disciplined, but did not disclose what that would entail.
New Orleans, meanwhile, is 1-2. The Saints dropped their first two games - against the Atlanta Falcons and the Cleveland Browns - before bouncing back with a 20-9 win against the Minnesota Vikings.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been solid so far - 863 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions - but has thrown for over 300 yards only once, which is unusual for the future Hall of Famer.
