"Key & Peele," the hilarious sketch comedy show on Comedy Central which airs Wednesdays at 10:30 PM EST, just began its fourth season of provocative antics this past week. If you've never seen it, I highly advise that you check it out at some point. In my opinion it is, hands down, the funniest show on TV at the moment.
Now it seems the talented duo have several films in the works as well. They are in talks with Paramount to make a feature-length film based on the name-botching substitute teacher Mr. Garvey, according to an article at Entertainment Weekly.
"We're in negotiations at Paramount to make a 'Substitute Teacher' movie. Two of our writers are penning it. Well, they're not penning it as we speak...it's getting there," Key said of the project.
Starring Key in the titular role, the substitute teacher skit from their show is known for Mr. Garvey's rather amusing inability to correctly pronounce student's names. Check out the skit below.
In addition to negotiating this film with Paramount, Key & Peele are also working on the upcoming "Police Academy" reboot. As producers, the two have taken on a creative role in its development and have recruited two of their friends to write the script.
Peele has also expressed interest in making his directorial debut with a horror film, which he currently has in development with Darko Entertainment.
"I want to be, essentially, a thriller director," he said. "I'm a big fan of horror movies. Rosemary's Baby, Stepford Wives...I'm sort of taking a lead from that genre of film. It'll be, just, very cool."
