Halloween Comes Early: Classic Horror Film Collection Complete at Last

After decades of waiting, fans of the original immortal night-prowling slasher, Michael Myers, can rejoice - the "Halloween Complete Collection" was released Tuesday (Sept. 23) on Blu-Ray, thanks to a collaboration between Anchor Bay and Scream Factory.

Fans of the franchise will have two options of collections: a 10-disc box set, which includes theatrical cuts of all 10 "Halloween" movies - including Rob Zombie's remakes - and select bonus content, or the 15-disc Limited Edition Collection, featuring theatrical cuts of every film produced in the series (except Rob Zombie's), the rare network TV cuts of John Carpenter's "Halloween" and "Halloween II," and the unrated cuts of the RZ films. Other special features include interviews with cast and crew from the entire franchise, exclusive featurettes, a limited edition 40-page book and much more.

HalloweenMovies.com, the "Official Website for Halloween & Michael Myers," posted one of the many exclusive extras from the Collection when they made the announcement:

But, more than all the rest, the collection's undeniably biggest perk is also what makes it an absolute must-have for all Myers fans: a film that all "Halloween" fans worth their masks and knives have desired for nearly 20 years, the super-rare, never-before-released "Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers, Producer's Cut," initially teased as "Halloween 666: The Origin of Michael Myers," now in 1080p HD. This version contains footage that never made it to any DVD release before now, and it delves deeper into the very nature of the stab-happy Michael's existence than any other "Halloween" film ever made.

Both versions of the collection are available at major media retailers. The list price for the 15-disc Limited Edition Collection is $169.99, and the 10-disc set is listed at $129.99, but they are currently on sale on Amazon for $107.42 and $89.99, respectively, but for how long?

Fans should take notice that this release was limited to Blu-Ray only, so those without a Blu-Ray player, PS3, PS4 or Xbox One should consider investing in one (of any of these) if they want to enjoy this collection to the fullest.

As evidence that "Halloween" is still the people's go-to movie series when they want to be scared, it took little more than a day for the collection to become Amazon's #1 bestseller in the Horror genre.

And if the Collection's release isn't enough, John Carpenter's original "Halloween" is returning to theaters this October, courtesy of Specticast, 36 years after its premiere. The screenings begin Oct. 1 in select theaters all over the world. Find a theater near you here and see the most successful independent horror film ever made the way it was meant to be seen!
