Brad Paisley Primed to Joke about Carrie Underwood’s Pregnancy During CMA Awards

Brad Paisley is sure of one thing when he and Carrie Underwood return as hosts of the CMA Awards Nov. 5: he's going to joke about Underwood's pregnancy. Most definitely.

Paisley stopped short of giving a heads up as to what jokes he plans to aim at Underwood, reports Taste of Country, but the "Perfect Storm" singer spoke with extra enthusiasm and - a mischievous grin - when addressing the topic backstage at the Grand Ole Opry on Sept. 24. He assured that his co-host's pregnancy "will definitely be addressed."

"I mean, who knows? Did you guys see her at the ACM Honors?" he asked at the Opry. "She was a basket case. So what's she going to be like in the monologue when we do this? Is she gonna break down crying? Or is she all of a sudden gonna start laughing for no reason, have a hot flash? Run off stage and pee. I don't know."

Paisley tacked on, "Just pray for me."

Paisley figures Underwood will be about five months along at the CMAs, so there will be no ignoring the baby bump. However, other topics to joke about may come a little tougher than Underwood's obvious bump.

"We're living in difficult times to be comedians right now, and I'm hoping that there are more things on the way that are a little bit lighter to joke about in the current events category," he says.

The 2014 CMA Awards will air Nov. 5 at 8 pm. EST on ABC.
