Navigation app Waze received an update Monday that allows users to add and edit different places to their maps.
The new feature, called Waze Places, is designed to make the maps more accurate, according to CNET. Types of locations that users can add include residential and business places, and photos of the spots can be added to make them easier to find.
The Waze team wrote in a blog post Monday that users will be provided with a new preview screen that will show them all information added by other users in the Places section. The company added that the information is intended to make sure that users are traveling to the right place and that they will recognize their destination before they reach it.
Users will be able to edit different details about their spots, such if parking or a drive-thru is available, The Next Web reported.
The update, which is available for iOS and Android devices, also comes with autocomplete, a feature that will allow users to search for locations much more quickly.
Another improvement is the addition of parking pins, which are designed for people who tend to forget where they park, CNET reported. Users will be able to keep Waze on while driving and tap the location of a parking spot they find on the app, which allows them to keep track of that spot. Users can then look for the pin on the app to find their car once they come back out of whatever establishment they entered.
The update follows one year after Waze was bought by Google, which has slowly begun to update Google Maps app with some of Waze's features. However, the deal allows Waze to continue to operate as its own program.
