HP Launches Cheap Windows Laptops Starting at $200

Hewlett Packard is expanding the Windows laptops range with an affordable Stream series.

Hewlett Packard, the renowned PC maker, continues to build Windows based laptops in affordable ranges to attract the low-end PC market widely acquired by the multi-functional Chromebooks. HP has expanded its Stream series with two new laptops, 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch respectively, trying to get an competitive edge over affordable Google-powered machines.

The attractive price-points and reasonable specs will make it a sensible choice for those who find computing on Windows much easier than cloud-based Chrome.

In an official press release, Monday, HP announced the 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch Stream laptops building on the already existing 14-inch Stream notebook. The PC maker lost its appeal for the 14-inch model when its price range shot up to $300. Now, HP is making it right with the affordable Stream notebooks within the $200 price range.

The two new machines in the Stream lineup feature the latest fanless design with highly efficient Intel Celeron processor, 32GB storage, 2GB RAM, a low-resolution of 1366x768 pixel display and can last up to 8.5 hours on a single charge, Engadget reports. The laptops feature USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports along with HDMI, audio jack and an SD card reader. Consumers will have two color options for both laptops, Orchid Magenta and Horizon Blue, offering a trendy look.

Besides the internal specs, the 11.6" and 13.3" Stream laptops will come with exceptional Microsoft perks. Microsoft is throwing value-added services such as 1TB of free cloud storage via OneDrive for one year along with free Office 365 subscription for a year and a $25 gift card, which can be used to buy apps, videos or games for Xbox.

The higher-end 13.3" Stream comes with optional 200MB of free 4G data each month without any annual contract. The free data has no limit and can be enjoyed throughout the life of the device.

The 11.6-inch HP Stream laptop will be available in stores starting November at an affordable $199.99 price alongside the 13.3" model that starts at $229.99.
