Remains of Missing Real Estate Agent Found

The body of a missing Arkansas real estate agent was found in a shallow grave in a rural suburb of Little Rock, investigators said Tuesday.

Beverly Carter, 49, was reported missing Thursday while on duty. She had told her associates that she would be meeting a possible buyer at a property in Scott, reports Reuters. After a 5-day search, investigators found her body in a concrete making company in Little Rock, Pulaski County Sheriff's Office spokesman Carl Minden said.

Carter's husband informed officials after she did not return home Thursday night. At least 200 volunteers helped officers search the area near the house where her car was found.

According to the officers, a 33-year-old Arkansas prison parolee who was arrested in relation with the case admitted of abducting Carter. After 12 hours of grilling, Aaron Lewis confessed to the crime. However, he did not tell them about her whereabouts. He is in jail with $1 million bond.

Police said they obtained information that led to the discovery of her remains buried on a property in Cabot, Arkansas.

Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay said charges against Lewis will be upgraded to capital murder, but Lewis had not been charged till Tuesday morning, reports the Associated Press.

"I just want to express my condolences to the Carter family and her friends who have worked so hard to find her and these investigators who were committed to finding her," Holladay told reporters.

According to the Arkansas officials, Lewis was on parole for theft convictions in Arkansas and also had a criminal history in Utah and Kansas.
