MTV reality star Diem Brown is facing another setback but she is determined to stay positive. The 32-year-old "Challenge" star was hospitalized on Thursday, Sept. 25 after doctors discovered new tumors in her kidneys.
Brown was supposed to receive chemotherapy for cancer in her colon after undergoing two emergency surgeries in mid-August after she was told she had cancer for a third time, People magazine reports. Diem told the magazine that when she went in to receive her chemo doctors noticed a spike in her kidney levels.
They were only able to give her "one of the two chemos" and an ultrasound revealed a tumor was blocking her kidney. Brown said she had been experiencing severe back pain but didn't know it was because of the new tumor. She was admitted to the emergency room on Thursday.
"I was so frustrated that it seems my body keeps throwing me curve balls over and over," Brown told People. "It's hard to keep your spirit and your mind positive... But I'm glad we are catching these curve balls and fixing them, one by one."
"They told me there I had complete blockage of my left kidney and 75 percent blockage of my right because of swelling and tumors," she added. "So they had to do a surgery and put in stents so things could flow normally again."
Throughout her health battles, Brown's friends, family and her on-again, off-again boyfriend CT have remained by her side. CT recently shared a photo of Brown in the hospital and encouraged people to donate to her MedGift page to help cover the costs of her medical expenses. Brown founded MedGift seven years ago to help raise money for other people who needed help with their hospital bills.
"It feels strange having to create this Diem support page on the very site she's dedicated the past 7 years of her life building," Brown's family wrote on her MedGift page. "Diem has always been a strong candidate for her own page, but she never wanted the focus of MedGift to be about her obstacles."
Brown is expected to start chemotherapy this week.
