Alton Nolen, the Oklahoma man who beheaded a woman with a work knife, was charged with first-degree murder and assault.
The charge was first reported by The Associated Press on Twitter:
It's unclear if he was definitely inspired by ISIS, but his cover photo shows Islamic fighters cradling weapons.
Despite the man's Facebook page, a law enforcement official tells CNN they have no proof that the altercation had a link to terrorism.
Nolen's family and friends say the 30-year-old was a good man and they saw no "red flags" in his behavior.
"He was really just a normal person," Karla Dunn, a friend of one of Nolen's younger siblings, told the police station, reports CNN. "He was polite. If you asked him to do something, he did it."
Nolen's sister, Megan Nolan, spoke about the issue in a video posted on her Facebook.
"Alton, my brother, he's always been a great person, a loving person," Megan Nolen said in the video. "He's always been a people's person, he's never been a violent person, so for something like this to have happened, we're all still in shock right now."
