Phenomenon!
That is exactly what country stars Larry Gatlin and Billy Dean's new anti-terrorist song, "American With A Remington" is being dubbed. A platinum-coated phenomenon. It took the powerful, patriotic song less than 24 hours to reach more than five million people on Facebook.
Is this a great country, or what?
Yesterday (Oct 1), while in between shows in Branson, Mo., Grammy Award-winning country music singers Larry Gatlin and Billy Dean got together to write a song about an issue weighing on their minds.
The recent beheadings of innocent people by Middle East terrorists prompted Gatlin and Dean to pen "American With A Remington," reports Country Music Matters. The soaring ballad drenched in American values was written in just a few hours, and an acoustic video performance of the tune was immediately uploaded directly to Facebook.
In less than 24 hours, the video has reached more than five million people. And Facebook just doesn't reach Americans – the social media platform provides access for a global community of users.
"Folks are stirred up about this stuff and they should be," declares Gatlin, the "All The Gold in California" singer. "These gutless, worthless terrorist cowards are attacking innocent people, and we as a nation won't stand for it. We're pissed off and we hope this song delivers a message to the bad guys."
The video kicks off with Gatlin and Dean looking into the camera. Gatlin declares, "Dear gutless, worthless terrorist cowards, here's a message from Billy Dean and me," reports Kicks 105.
Dean, who's No. 1 hits include "Somewhere In My Broken Heart," and "It's What I Do," adds, "The feedback we have gotten from this song has been overwhelming and with good reason..."People are mad as hell and there's an army of Americans who know how to use a gun and who respect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Gatlin's career accomplishments include more than 30 Top 40 hits, a Grammy Award and a starring role on Broadway. The close family harmonies of Larry, Rudy and Steve Gatlin, better known as Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers, gave the trio a signature sound that led to country classics like "Broken Lady" and "I Just Wish You Were Someone I Love."
Dean has claimed 11 top ten Billboard country singles, including five No.1 hits, including "I Miss Billy The Kid,""If There Hadn't Been You" and "You Don't Count The Cost." In 2000, Dean sang harmony vocals alongside Alison Krauss on Kenny Rogers' rendition of "Buy Me A Rose," which earned Dean a Grammy.
